We are here to make sure you never have to experience that heart-sinking ‘if only I’d waited’ moment again. So, buckle up and prepare to become a savvier shopper as we explore the ins and outs of getting the best bang for your buck at Macy’s!
Does Macy’s Price Match?
Yes! Your favorite store price match. However, Macy’s price match policy is a bit different from other stores. As of July 2022, Macy’s stopped price-matching competitors. So, if you bought a dress for $50 from Macy’s and found that same dress for $40 on Nordstrom two days later, you won’t get a price match.
But wait, there’s good news, Macy’s matches their in-store and online prices. This means if you find a lower price at Macy’s after you purchase, you can request a price match. Keep in mind that you have 10 days to request a price match. For online purchases, the 10-day price match window starts counting the day your order ships.
Note: For furniture, Macy’s will only match a $100 price difference.
How Do You Request A Price Match From Macy’s?
Macy’s offers two options to request a price match; in-store and online. We will break down these processes below.
For In-store Requests
1. Make sure your item aligns with Macy’s price match criteria.
2. Obtain evidence of a lower price, such as a printed ad or a screenshot.
3. Head to your nearest Macy’s store with the item and price proof in hand.
4. Approach a sales associate or the customer service desk.
5. Present the evidence of the lower price to the associate.
6. Allow the associate to verify the competitor’s price and its validity.
7. If approved, proceed with the purchase at the adjusted price or, if previously bought, receive a refund for the difference.
For Online Requests
1. Sign in to your Macy’s online account where you made the purchase.
2. Navigate to the customer service section or chat support on Macy’s website.
3. State your intent to price match, providing the necessary product details.
4. Upload or share the screenshot/link of the lower price when prompted.
5. Macy’s representatives will verify the authenticity and eligibility of the price match then get back to you.

Benefits of Macy’s Price Match Policy?
Macy’s price match policy, while not a traditional price match with competitors, still offers a host of benefits for consumers. Here are some of the key advantages:
1. Peace of Mind
Knowing that you have a window to get money back if an item goes on sale after your purchase can ease the anxiety of trying to time your shopping perfectly.
If the price drops within the 10-day period, you can claim a refund for the difference, which ensures that you always get the best deal offered by Macy’s during that timeframe.
3. Simplified Shopping Experience
The policy eliminates the need to monitor prices constantly. Instead of waiting or holding out for sales before making a purchase, you can buy when you’re ready and still benefit from upcoming discounts.
Limitations of Macy’s Price Match Policy
Macy’s price match policy is designed to allow you to benefit from a price drop after they have made a purchase. However, like most retailer policies, there are exceptions. Some of the exceptions to the policy include:
1. Use of Coupons
If you initially purchased an item using a particular coupon or discount, it will affect your eligibility for a price adjustment. So, let’s say you bought a stylish jacket at Macy’s for $90, and you use a 20% off coupon, which brings the price down to $72. Later, if you notice that the same jacket goes on sale for $60 within the price match period, you won’t be eligible for a price match. This is because the sale price of $60 is already lower than the original price of $90, regardless of the coupon discount. You already benefitted from a discount.
2. No Third Services
Macy’s does not allow the use of third-party services like Capital One Shopping and Earny for price adjustments. This limits shoppers as they rely on these services to monitor price changes seamlessly. By excluding them, Macy’s makes it a hassle for shoppers like you to know they are getting the best deal. This takes away from the shopping experience.
